Genre Research Part 3: Horror

(CAMS) camera angles, movement, shots:

Low angle shot to make the scary thing look taller and scarier. High angle shots to make the victim look smaller.

(CLAMPS) Mis-En-scene: The lighting may be dark to make the audience scared and not know what is coming. The makeup may also be dark, ugly, and decayed to make you visually disturbed disgusted, and scared.

Common Editing in your genre: Jump cuts to show surprising and no stability. Cross citing to show different types of action that may be introduced

Common sound in your genre: You have dialogue for example when someone tells the person its not safe or to run, or yo have the dietetic sound of the screaming people and the non diegetic sound of the the music meant to inertial making the audience eery and scared.

  • Example films of your genres: IT, the conjuring, the ring, the exorcist.
  • What elements of the genre do you like?

Nothing in this genre has me very scared, and nothing could make me watch another one.

What elements of the genre do not appeal to you? The jumpscares, the ugly characters, the scary looking characters, the fact they always say based on a true story at the end.
